3.3 Release Delay

Tuesday, December 13th, 2005

Yes i know what you all are thinking, and i am also thinking the same thing too cause i really want to make this release and release it so we can move on to other things. Recently, today i was updating the packed softwares and i encountered an error in 2 places.

PHP 5.1.1: I was updating PHP as i usually do when i hit a major problem. The php.ini file was not pulling the extensions from /usr/local/php/extensions/ but it was pulling it from C:/php5/ for some reason, and that directory does not exist and neither has PHP been installed on this PC before. Another problem was also the fact that i later realized that it was pulling php.ini from C:\WINDOWS which has no file called php.ini in it. I later fixed the problem with a small tweak to the httpd.conf file.
By adding PHPIniDir “/usr/local/php/” my problem was solved for PHP. :D

phpMyAdmin 2.7.0-pl1: The second problem i’m facing is with phpMyAdmin. For some reason, there is a problem with the theme system cause its not pulling the css files right or something. You have to keep refreshing it like 3 times before it loads up right and after that it goes back to the plain dirty no css theme.

I am still working on fixing the phpMyAdmin problem, but i definately promise you that version 3.3 will be out in time for christmas. If i have to downgrade phpMyAdmin for the release i will :) I know everything works perfect on version 2.6.3+

Back Again

Tuesday, December 6th, 2005

Wow, i noticed i have not posted here for a while. Been busy with getting everything ready for school. Also fighting some family and real life problems.

Anyways, the Beta Chat 2 went OK. Not much people turned out but i guessed that was expected as most people only join to get and not contribute. 3.3 should be coming in a week or two so watch out for it. In fact i can even make it my gift to you all on my birthday which is December 13 :D . Just have to upgrade all the package contents plus some last minute fixes and checking.

We are now going to be compressing all .DLL and .EXE files with UPX to make the package smaller. Hope it works :) Havn’t tried it out yet :D .

Thats all i can think of now, but i will make sure to keep you all updated.

Long Time No See

Wednesday, September 28th, 2005

Yeah, i know. Its been a while since you all have heard from me and this is due to problems at home and so on. I’m still sorting them all out, but i have solved some. I will be starting school, college by January so i have no idea what to expect because it seems as if i have to rent an apartment with no job so i may not have “internet” :(

Anyways, as for Uniform Server i have started work on it. But 3.3 wont be released till 5.1 comes out stable as i said. Right not i am trying to update the site and make everything ready for 3.3 to come. You will see some improvments and changes to the site and also new things added and some old things removed. Also i will try and start on the plugin installer cause it seems i cannot find a good NSIS maker who can help us for free.

I will try and update you all as i go along. I am also testing and making sure everything is alright for the release. Translations of Admin Panel 2.0 will also start this week. I will be posting what is needed to the Developer Forum for any of the Beta Testers to help translate. If you would like to help, click on Contact and drop an email. We will send you what you need.

Coming along with 3.3 will be MiniServer. MiniServer is the ISO version of the Uniform Server that can burnt into a CD and ran. It will come in 2 versions. All details will be explained after the release of 3.3

SQLite Manager?

Saturday, August 20th, 2005

Yap, since SQLite is included in PHP5 by default, we now have a plugin for SQLite Manager so that you can create/manager SQLite database.

More Information will be posted later. The plugin will be released after we start on the NSIS Installer for every plugins including this one… :D
