WLANSVC Problems
June 25th, 2008 | Windows
It seems to me like whenever i move, my PC has problems. After a recent short-move i find it intresting how my computer just started acting up. It starts up fine but freezes when it gets to the welcome windows logo; & this all on Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 (Service Pack 1 just came out a week or so ago.) I tried starting it up in Safe Mode, works with no problems. Safe Mode w/ Network, same thing. Anyways, i researched the problem (at the time i didnt think anything network) and found out the best way to figure the problem out is to stop all startup programs and services one by one till i find the cause. I did it my way in 10s and 20s and found out the problem was with the WLAN AutoConfig Services. According to Windows this service enumerates WLAN adapters, manages WLAN connections and profiles, huh???
Anyways i disabled it and everything seemed to be Ok until i couldnt connect to the Wireless network. Oh-oh. Went online to dig deeper and couldnt find anything to help out. People where just giving random ideas or help to the others. I tackled it my way, went to Device Manager and rolled back my wireless lan adapter’s driver and it worked perfect. No more problems and now i can start the service automatically.
This is just to help those that have the same problem… hope yall find it before doing a fresh re-install! cause i sure couldnt afford to do that with everything i have installed.
